We are delighted to be able to announce the launch of our new 'Homeco Energy For Schools Programme', making it easy for schools to benefit from solar energy.
The scheme offers the chance for a limited number of schools to benefit by having a solar photovoltaic (PV) system installed with no costs to the school whatsoever.
For schools and local authorities looking to make savings and protect against rising electricity prices, the Homeco Energy For Schools Programme allows schools to install solar electricity without the high initial capital costs.
By having a Homeco Energy For Schools solar PV system installed the school benefits in several ways:
The way schools are funded, every penny saved from these solar PV systems can be placed back into the budget for the year for each school to spend on what they need.
By reducing their carbon footprint, schools will not only be setting an example to their students, but also help the country to meet the UK's obligation to reducing our CO2 emissions.
Homeco Energy will install, completely free of charge, a 10 kWh-p system. We will design, install, maintain and insure the system for a period of 25 years all at no cost to the school.
We anticipate that the electricity cost saving to the school over the lifetime of the system would be in the region of £45,000 whilst also saving over 90 tonnes of carbon - equivalent to the weight of around 18 elephants.
As part of the package we also fit a public display unit, generally in the entrance foyer, which shows pupils, staff and visitors real time data that the system is producing as well as carbon savings.
We also link the solar PV system to the school website thereby allowing pupils and parents access to the system details remotely and at any time.
We will ensure that teachers are in a position to bring this technology into the classroom by helping them understand the key principles behind solar renewables and more importantly how it can benefit the children.
The proposed system would require various different permissions and notifications being granted before going ahead. Homeco Energy will help manage all of these for you making the process of installation as straight forward as possible.
Solar PV provides a powerful visual demonstration of how micro renewables can be incorporated into buildings to help meet broader government aims of carbon reduction by encouraging energy efficiency and on-site renewable energy generation.
PV installations in schools and colleges also helps educate the next generation about the importance of renewable energy.

Renewable Energy can become part of the school syllabus with course work being produced based upon their schools own solar PV system.

This public display unit has been turned into an information point for pupils and parents and allows them to see firsthand the energy they have created and the savings of carbon they have made.
To see how we can bring renewable energy into the classroom in a fun and interactive way please click on the link here and see how Sunny Bear and Solarina journey thorugh different worlds where they discover the secrets of solar power and learn how we can protect the environment.
Homeco Energy is on the lookout for schools of all sizes to benefit from the installation of free solar PV systems.
If you are a teacher, pupil or parent please feel free to contact us to discuss the possibilities of helping your school.
We have a limited number of applications for 2011, so please hurry to ensure you don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity.
